Farmville Top 10 Animals Without a Home

On FarmVille as of late, you can find a couple of new Buildings that house your Reindeer, Cats, Dogs, Gila Lizard, Desert Tortoise, and even your Squirrels. But what about those other outcast Animals that just don’t seem to fit in anywhere? Where is your Pink Dragon going to sleep? Well, we’ve compiled a list to cheer ten of them up by selecting them as our favorite Animals without a Home!

10. Chinese Dragon
We’re not huge on the Chinese Dragon due to how out of place it truly looks when placed side-by-side with other FarmVille critters, but c’mon – just look at it. How could we compile a list like this and A) not include this one, and B) find a better introduction to the list itself? Yes, the Chinese Dragon looks unlike any other beast in FarmVille’s history, and the fact that the Chinese Dragon occasionally spits a traditional orange ball of fire to the tip of its teeth before retracting the glowing ember-enchanted orb doesn’t help, either, but having something so different is definitely eye-catching.

9. Mini Donkey
The Donkey is one of the staples of FarmVille’s Animal tabs, as it was one of the very first non-farming Animals to ever appear in the game via the Mystery Box. It boiled us to the ears with jealousy seeing our neighbors having one or more Donkeys on their farm, setting the example of “covet thy neighbor’s digital belongings” that we’ve come to admittedly love. Of course, the Mini Donkey brings that to the table tenfold, providing us with an adorable rendition of a FarmVille classic. He really could use a brushing, though!

8. Komodo Dragon
It is not often that you can place a larger than life lizard with the power to kill in an instant right next to your Sheep Pen and not have to worry about waking up to a whole lot of wool in the morning, but that is one of the reasons that we love FarmVille so much. The Komodo Dragon is one of the world’s largest lizards, clocking in at around ten feet in length in extreme cases – and yes, they are carnivores, devouring animals whom are vast in size. We always wanted one growing up, but the thought of growing up without limbs was always a deterrent. Thanks to FarmVille, we now get to (sort of) live the dream!

7. Griffin
Released as a part of the incredibly tongue-twisty theme, Agricultural Alchemy, the Griffin was unleash to provide a mythological twist on the usual delights of FarmVille lore: Horses, Sheep, Ducks, etcetera. Truth be told, we immediately thought of the Griffin whenever we were first writing this piece up, as we were thinking of Animals that would probably never receive a house of their own; after all, where exactly do you put flying eagle-lion hybrids, anyway? A nest? A lion’s den? Perhaps it is one of the world’s great mysteries.

6. Lemmings
Easily the smallest Animal on our countdown, the Lemmings were a Common Mystery Game item that really struck a chord with us due to their miniscule stature – you get three of them to a single set, meaning that they are so tiny that just giving you one with be deemed too insufficient. The reason we simply adore these three stooges is that they’re essentially little puffballs of fluff. They might not be the brightest critters on Earth, but they are definitely unique and stand out in the pack.

5. Baby Alpaca
The original Alpaca was an early entry into the “other” Animals of FarmVille, which as we know quickly spread to the Wildlife Habitat and Pet Run types. It’s a beast so ugly that it’s sort of cute, which is unlike its tiny version that was previously available in the Mystery Game. The Baby Alpaca reminds us of those little statues tied together with string that you’d find at the zoo, where you press a button and the animal statue takes a tumble, resurrecting when you let go of the button. There are only two Animals in FarmVille that share this type of model, which is really too bad; it seems that Zynga had a good thing going here but went in another direction. The other of the two is…

4. Deer Fawn
What do you get when you cross two FarmVille staples, the Deer and Baby Animals? Apparently the fourth best Animal without a home in the game, according to yours truly. We love the way that the Deer Fawn looks, as it keeps a cartoony premise to the Baby Animals with big eyes (always a plus and something Zynga always does with Foals, even if their adult versions look stylized but realistic), but also adds a frail feeling to the tiny Deer. This one will always be a favorite on our farm.

3. Baby Penguin
Baby Animals are nothing new to FarmVille, with many various babies reaching the digital farm safely, but the Baby Penguin is our favorite of the lot. Everybody loves Penguins in the first place, and their boom in pop culture after the likes of The March of the Penguins and Happy Feet left an impact on the Market; seeing Zynga take advantage of that by unleashing a bevy of Penguins onto the Market was hardly surprising, but how well the animators at Zynga managed to capture this chubby ball of feathers is the pleasant shocking part of it. If your heart doesn’t melt when it flaps its little wings, we don’t know how cruel you can be.

2. Black Dragon
There are quite a growing number of Dragons available throughout the history of FarmVille, going from the Blue Dragon and Baby Dragon with its red paint color to the freebie White Dragon available through Questing to the Pink Dragon, a favorite amongst our Posters on the Facebook page. Our favorite is the second Dragon ever released in the game, the Black Dragon. Featuring the patented fire-breathing tricks of old, it is the Black Dragon’s neon green trim that really catches our eye. Those horns and scales really set off the heavy black colors of the beast.

1. Miniature Goat
This is actually our overall favorite Animal in all of FarmVille. Is it as cool as some of the others on the list? Definitely not; after all, how is a Miniature Goat supposed to compete with a Black Dragon? With that said, we’re hard pressed to find an Animal that has a higher cuteness factor in the entire game. The Miniature Goat’s tiny stature and facial patterns look as if he’s wearing a tiny little mask, and his enthusiasm whenever he leaps his front legs into the air is probably the cutest animation in the game.
You will notice a complete absence of Unicorns and Pegasi in this list, and they’re definitely not omissions – we’ve got something else in store for them later in the year. You’ve read our list, now tell us what YOU think! What are your favorite Animals without a Home in FarmVille?
